For
the elaboration of our tapestries a rustic loom is used. The
loom is a kind of wooden frame on which the threads are tightened.
The
tapestry is a kind of fabric that is woven using sheep wool
,following a technique known as "face of the weft"
(threads placed horizontally on the loom) in which the design
is obtained by weaving threads of different colours covering
the warp (threads placed vertically on the loom). To achieve
the different colours of the tapestries, the wool undergoes
a process of dyeing. It consists on boiling the wool with
the tints until it acquires the wanted colour.
Natural
tints are used such as the shell of the nuts, yerba mate,
jarilla, which are boiled during several hours and also aniline.
Once the dyeing process is over, the wool is dried out in
the sun during several hours.
Our tapestries are made in standard measures (see images)
but different measures are made at your request.
