The festival of the empanada is a gastronomic and musical event that takes place every year in September in the city of Famailla, 30 km. away from San Miguel de Tucuman, in Argentina.
This kind of events are highly frequented, therefore a great number of artisans become part of it exhibiting their creations. The National Festival of the Empanada is a significant folkloric event.
Besides, the “empanaderas” compete for the National Queen of the Empanada Diplomma. The empanada is a regional meal typical from the Argentinean North. It is a piece of dough filled with meat that has been previously finely cut with a knife. It is cooked in an special mud oven ,handmade by the native villagers.
